Will be visiting Devizes C&CC club site and High Onn CC site in June. Has anyone any information regarding eating out, where to go & what to see, walking (not too strenous) etc? also do you need the car to get around? There will only be the two of us.

William, There is a pub directly outside the Devizes site which has a very good food service. It is possible to walk from the site to Devizes (uphill on the way there past the 20 or so locks) and Trowbridge along the canal towpath. For any further Wiltshire landmarks e.g. Stonehenge, Salisbury cathedaral etc. the car is required. Ray

The site at High Onn is isolated with access down narrow lanes (but very little traffic)you can walk from the site down the lanes and pick up a canalside walk, including one to Wheaton Aston to a canalside pub.

Apart from this the car will be needed to visit the likes of Weston Park,Shrewsbury or the Ironbridge Gorge and all its museums, here you can get a 'passport ticket'that allows you to come back another time to see what you didnt have time to see.

Eating out there is a nice pub that does very good food about 10 minutes away by car,it gets busy so you need to try and book the site wardens have the details.
