Devon Cliffs / Sandy Bay

We are thinking of visiting the above park/parks at Easter. Has anyone been and if so what are they like. We are travelling with 3 young children. Thanks Denise

Denise,

We visited the Haven site at Devon Cliffs soon after it had been renovated about 18 months ago.

The Good points - lovely beach. Good under fives play area. Swimming pool.

The bad points for me it was too commercialised - loads of gaming machines, we were there when the Sun newspaper had been running a promotion 4 nights for

we also went to devon cliffs,it was pouring with rain ,it had rained 2 days before we got there, pitches had turned to mud, after getting up the bank, cars were sliding trying to get on the pitches, the tractor was helping to pull some off and the ground was more than gentle sloping,we never stopped.

Hi MOnkey Husband, Thanks for the info may well steer clear although I don,t know how busy it will be at Easter - but it could be WET! Where is Sandy Balls? Thankyou

Denise,

Sandy balls is in the New Forest - good for children (www.sandy-balls.co.uk), If you wanted S Devon, I heard good reports on the refurbished CC site @ Hillhead and it's probably worth looking @ www.hoburne.com, we were going to go to their site in Torquay but it was fully booked when we tried.

Good Idea to book now.

Kindest Regards

Monheys Husband

We stopped at a john fowlers site at widemouth bay.

All i can say is that it was the worst place we had been with the caravan. The pitches were small and not well maintained. I have had friends that have stopped at other commercial sites and have not enjoyed it.

The commercial site are only interested in getting as many people on a site with as little cost as possible.

We tend to use caravan sites that are mainly used for touring caravans as these look after there pitches etc.

If you need entertainment book up at the CC club site at minehead, You can then spend the day/evening at butlins for a reasonable price.
