DFDS booking fee

Hi I have just recieved comfirmation from dfds for a booking for next June.

I had to do it over the phone to get a suitcase passenger ( 5 people in a 4 berth cabin)

I realised this would incur a £10 booking fee.

I have now realise that because the fees are going up next year to £20 per telephone booking and my trip is next year I have been charged £20.

Not Happy !!!

Surely the price you pay should be the current price at the time of booking. If demand increases or decreases the cost of the ferry might go up - or down - but you pay the current going rate at time of purchase including booking fees.

I pass all my ferry business, mostly so DFDS Ferry crossings to an independant travel agent in Newcastle Upon Tyne, They are Travel Link, tel: 0191 232 2200, ask for Doris, she has great knowledge of ferries and good contacts at DFDS has always got me what i needed, without the hassle of me ringing and shopping around. Other staff in the office specialise in all other area's of Travel and Holidays. Give them a try!! me and my company have always been happy with their service.

Does Travel Link deal in travel insurance tailored to individual circumstances ? I ask since my car and 'van are already covered and I have no need for 'airport delays/unfinished accomodation/industrial action by hotel staff' cover which so often seems to be built into some policies. Years ago I dealt with a travel agent (now long retired) who put together a 30 day policy ideally suited to my teenage inter-railing daughter, no frills just solid cover, sensible price and would like to find someone similar again.

Sorry to ramble on but I would hate to launch myself at Doris out of the blue.

Not sure about the varying types of policy, somehow I believe they are probably the typical standard travel policies. I know since the FSA has taken travel insurance under its wing it has proved problematic to the travel industry and to the types of policy various companies can offer, due to the FSA rule and restrictions.

A few years back a friend of ours who travelled to Denmark by Ferry with his car always bought a particular Motoring Travel policy from a well known large multiple travel agency, unfortunatley they phased it out and he has not been able to get anything like it since from any travel agent.
