Diesel in Dunkerque

Going Dover Dunkerque next week and with diesel prices as they are looks best to fill up in France. Has anyone done this recently? Which is the easiest fuel station near the ferry port or is it better to get away a bit? Planning on taking D300 to St Omer and then down D928

……. The cheapest is Auchan at Grande-Synthe although it is a slight detour to your route.
Price for diesel on Sat 14th May was € 1.299/ltr.
It is off the D131 and the co-ordinates of the filling station entrance are 51.004844 2.285414
Enter these into Google Maps search box to see the location.
There is plenty of room for a car and caravan and the 24/7 card operated pumps on the left as you enter, accept UK credit cards.
Bear in mind if you do use this filling station that it is 500 mtrs from the Auchan Hypermarket which has a seperate entrance.

We are travelling next sunday and i think thats whitson weekend. Anyone know if fuel stations will be open in Belgium & Germany, please?

It should be OK, as in most european countries witsun is not at the same time of year year in year out, unlike here in the UK.
IE germany its 50 ish days after easter, easter was late this year so for those that celebrate whitsun abroad, it should be in June.......

As you go down the D300 you come to an island where if you were to turn right you would go to Eperleques and the campsite Chateau du Gandspette. So at that island turn left, the locality is Bleu Maison and then about 200 yds down the road is a supermarket which we have generally found to be as cheap as any in the area. It is only a minor deviation from your route.

HI Steam Brian

I agree that the petol site nr Gandspette is normally reasonablly priced. Last time we tried it with the van on the back it was a bit of a squeeze. Prefer to use the Auchan site just outside St Omer

Hi. I agree with Lulubelle. The Carrefour Market at Watten is just off the D300 and generally has good prices and we fill up there when we stay at Gandspette but I wouldn't like to try it with my 'van on the back. There is an automatic pump which accepts British credit cards and it is less of a detour than the Auchan site, so you could have a look without losing much time, but it is tight as the pumps run almost at right angles to the approach road.
