Diesel in Dunkirk

We'll be getting off the Norfolkline ferry on a Sunday afternoon and would like to fill up with diesel before getting on the motorway system.

Can anyone suggest a petrol station near to the port that would be easy to access with a car/van combination and will be open on Sunday pm?

Which way are you going to Belgium or France because diesel is much cheaper in Belgium. We stop at the first service station over the border.

We're probably heading for Brittany, so Belgium would be the wrong direction.

There is a BP fuel station on the A16 between Dunkerque and Calais but cannot help with any suggestions "off motorway". There will be some supermarket stations but do not know which ones are open on Sunday mornings.

The way the pound is dropping against the Euro before long there won't be much difference between UK and French prices so you will be able to fill up before you get on the ferry.

Come out of Dunkirk and come down the A16, turn off for Calais Docks, follow the road to the second roundabout, you will see the filling station on your right, just follow your nose, you can`t miss it, there`s plenty of room all the trucks use it.

Chrisbee is right. The savings - if any - are too small to make it worth the risk of arriving in France with a low fuel level. I usually go with about half a tankfull these days, leaving plenty of time to fill up.

I would use the Auchan Calais filling station.

This accepts British credit cards and can cope with caravans easily, use the pumps on the right, as the station will be unmanned on Sunday.

One tip enter credit card details and choose fuel type before removing nozzle from holster or the pump will not release any fuel.

The current price for diesel today is _1.089/ ltr

The Sat Nav co-ordinates are

N 50.942516 W 1.810158

If no SatNav then use Google Maps and put in

We always fill up at Tesco in Dover before getting on the ferry, that way when we come off the ferry we can push off straight the way to our destination

When you leave the Dunkirk ferry terminal, drive for approximately 2 miles and take the last exit from the roundabout. Just over 3 miles along the road you'll find an Auchan where British cards will get fuel when the supermarket is closed. Earlier in the week diesel was 1.08 Euro per litre. At
