I'm one of those who switched away from diesels last year, after a run of diesels for nearly 25 years. My last diesel was a 2018 Volvo V90 D4, I changed it last year to a 2022 Volvo V90 B4 (mild hybrid petrol) and while the MPG is a bit less than the diesel, the actual running costs are even with the price difference between the two fuels. Sure, a diesel engine might well have more torque but my towing miles are a very small percentage of my annual mileage. Diesels are still in demand though as the trade in price form my D4 was only £3K less than I paid for it as an ex-demonstrator.

The difference between the two fuels seem very variable, here (Norfolk) i see £1.49 and £1.69. Supermarkets often more expensive than big brands.

However I was happy to fill up at Costco last weekend for £1.45 for diesel, that pretty much paid the annual membership fee, if only it wasn't 100 miles from home :(.

Prices in Glasgow area are roughly in line with others quotes but varies across the city. Out to the East where there is lots of competition (We have six supermarkets and most brands within three miles) Prices are at the lower end. In the East we noticed on a trip they were six pr seven pence higher at the supermarkets with very little branded sites at all. Completely ridiculous.

I filled up in Salford on Tuesday, £1.61, that's the cheapest I have seen for ages (I live in Weymouth where the cheapest is £1.65)
If some forecourts can sell at £1.51 (and not making a loss) it shows how much profit others must be screwing us for :fearscream::fearscream:
Grrrrrr Time tgphe Govt looked into fuel pricing.

I dream of paying only £1.51
