black nozzles and piping is diesel. green nozzle and piping is un leaded petrol. if in doubt compare the nozzles diesel nozzles are larger so as to make it impossible to put it in a petrol car! These are the two most important ones to remember. then there are others red nozzle were leaded petrol and blue nozzles i think are also diesel but not the standard stuff.

Three types of diesel are sold in Germany, diesel, super diesel (sometimes referred to as extra or ultimate, depending on the brand), and biodiesel. However, they are all clearly marked as such and not all service stations offer all 3, but regular diesel is available everywhere.

It would be odd for the fuel to be called anything else other than diesel in Germany since the name is derived from the German inventor of the diesel engine………Rudolf Diesel

Are the Diesel Pumps described as they are in UK or how are they designated??

More or less! Given that the major oil brands are European wide apart from the prices its difficult to distinguish which country you are in! Even in France now the term diesel is becoming widespread rather than Gazole which you do still see. Even if you use a pay at pump machine it will often come up in English once you put in a UK card.
