Quote,"Severely allergic to dogs" what an utter load of tripe and poppycock. It's all in the head!! get real, who are you trying to kid?
Hello Robin,

I suffer with Hayfever, which can be quite debilitating at times, and wilst I dont have an alegy to Dogs, I do have a friend who is. Sadly he has had to spend time in hospital, once as the result of getting into a taxi who had carried a dog the day before! His responce is rather like anephelactic shock where his airways close up.

His life is very real and at times it is very distressing. His social life is limited because he is very worried about going to pubs or other public buildings where dogs might have recently been.

Please do not mock the afflicted - they are just as 'real' as you and deserve equal respect.

I too think Joes question is perfectly reasonable and I am a dog lover,my husband is forever having to wait for me as I wander off to talk to any dog that happens to pass

However my son was bitten by a dog who was off lead and simply raced up to him and took a bite,we think the dog had been annoyed by other kids and simply got confused

He is now not happy around dogs of any type and I am not happy to have to constantly watch for the little presents they leave behind as I am walking along

And yes I do know that that is not the fault of the dog but of the minority of irresponsible owners, though I have never met one single owner who does not pick up after their dog,so how the leavings are there I do not know

Who has ever heard of a dog that has been mauled by a child.

Obviously it would never happen. Sadly we here about it the other war round all the time.

We have all seen todays headlines and my thoughts go out to the poor parents who will have to live with this for the rest of their lives.

But we here it time and time again, how the dog has always loved children and is a gentle family pet, then for no reason at all it launches in to a rage and seriously mauls somebody.

I and the rest of my family give dogs as wide a birth as possible, but we seem to be in this present culture where evrybody has to have a dog. I am the first to admit that there are well behaved dogs with very responsible owners, but there are probably more who are not and why should other peoples dogs barking affect my holiday.

We stayed on a site in France for 2 weeks in the summer and the family opposite had a dog, whilst it never really barked much, it growled very fiercly whenever any of us approached our caravan. You just dont need it.

I wish there were more 'Dog Free' parks just in the same way that there are children free parks, but they seem to be few and far between.
