Just come back from two glorious weeks in Devon, one of which was spent at Peppermint Park at Dawlish Warren. The guy on next pitch to us had a very incontinent old dog which was allowed to wander at will unrestrained by the owner and would come round and leave disgusting dollops on our pitch. After three days of repeatedly going around to inform the owner that his dog had crapped yet again, I had to rather pointedly suggest he tethered his dog on a long lead to his own caravan so it could defecate on his own pitch............ I know that for every bad dog owner like this there are 50 good ones but that is no comfort if you get pitched up next to the numpty........ its not nice for the next folk who use that pitch if they have kiddies and dont know that a dog has been relieving itself all over the grass....... Im inclined to the view that dogs should be banned off caravan parks unless the park owners are prepared to enforce strict rules regarding hygiene etc.

Its hard to argue against you and as we have 4 dogs and always take 1 or 2 with us it is something that worries me a lot. It is easy to say that the majority of dog owners are responsible etc but unfortunately it is only the bad ones that get noticed. I dont know what the solution is. If you report it to the site owner as yet another problem to deal with he may decide (as an increasing number are) that dogs are just too much trouble and ban them and if you approach the offending owner yourself you will probably just get told where to go! Perhaps other dog owners can suggest something. One thing that dog owners can do is pick up any dog mess they find regardless of whose dog it has come from, I know we shouldnt have to but you will be well used to it and should have the bags etc. so it shouldnt be much of a problem. In the case reported by Ramblingrose for example if another dog owner had taken the trouble to clean up it would have greatly improved the image of responsible dog owners and I think that is sorely needed at the moment.

Sorry, posted this in the wrong place. The above was meant as a comment on Rambling rose not Tina. Oops looks like I've put my foot in it!
