Dometic fridge on 12v

Is there any way I can tell if my Dometic 117l fridge is working on 12v? My last fridge had a light to show it was operating when connected to car with the engine running but no such light is apparent on my Pageant.

Hi Chrisbee

Sorry I can't be much help but like you I find it frustrating that I don't know if the fridge is working on 12v. Seeing the orange light showed that I had a good connection on the grey cable. Now I don't know and could be going for many hours with the fridge getting warmer not colder and the battery not charging. The cost of adding a light during original manufacture would probably have only been a few pence. The manufacturers have added other bits such as bottle restraints but done away with the essentials.

I have added two LED lamps to the front panel of my fridge, a 12 vdc one to indicate the 12 volt supply and a 230vac one for the mains. Very cheap from Maplins.

Apparently these lights were 'removed' because people complained that they were too bright and at night prevented people from sleeping!!!!!!!!!! Surely, even if they thought this was a good idea they could have put the light inside the fridge, so you could actually tell that the connection was working.

Ours is still old enough to have the light - and it's very useful as occasionally the car/caravan connection is not up to scratch, and needs a bit of a sandpaper to improve connectivity.
