Door window not sealed

Evening guys. I have a 2024 coachman caravan and when washing it today noticed the window in the door leaks at the top. On pressing it it’s clearly loose and not sealed. Can anyone tell me how they are sealed in please. Looks like butyl tape ??

Is it a fixed or much more unusually, an opening window?

It’s fixed John. It’s in the door and is loose at the top where it’s not bonded

It is roger but the van is sited and I don’t have a tow car and they want to charge me for collecting and return which isn’t as cheap as me doing it myself I’m afraid.

Have a search on the Approved Workshop Scheme ( AWS) for a Coachman approved mobile tech near your van. They may be approved to carry out warranty repairs on your van.

You could remind the dealer that they did a PDI on the caravan prior to delivery and that they should have noticed the issue. When we had an issue with the caravan while it was in storage the dealership sent out a technician to do the repair on our caravan. The dealership was 90 miles away. No charge!

They’re saying that it has to go in to a workshop for the window to be sealed. I’m an ex technician and I’ve fit plenty of windscreens in the outdoors 🙈

Similar to us we brought a caravan from a dealer at Gloucester when we were seasonal (a few years ago) and seeing we did not have a towcar they said we will delivered to your site ,that was 50 miles away each way but we had a problem with the cassette door had warped and we had a leak . they sent someone out to inspect and order a new one and fitted it on site . so i hope you can either do it yourself or what someone else on here said and good luck.

What's the chance, if Mel's suggestion doesn't work, about removing the door and taking it to the dealership. Could you secure the caravan in some way whilst they fix the window.

The caravan is under warranty so attempting to do the repair work yourself may invalidate the warranty for that area.

That was the last option to repair it but what Mel suggestion while it under warranty, or if he had any friends who could tow his caravan to the dealer .

If the seal is like mine it is a one piece ," U". Shaped section moulding,with a another piece of cord fitted into a central channel,It probably was supposed to have a secondary bitumastic seal(when I replaced mine I used what I always use,a bitumastic sealer cartridge (ID 99 by caraflex or Hodges).Having said all that to replace a door window seal is a struggle to say the least, it's as though they're made a size to small thus gripping the door frame and window tightly,for yours to feel loose is a strange situation..I wish you luck if you can't find a solution as what has been stated by the various suggestions by other forum members,Gary

Coachman in their own printed Warranty say”” ..all warranty work requires the caravan to be delivered and collected from the supplying dealer or approved servicing centre”.

But where does the Dealers contract with the OP say that? Does it? I doubt it.
CRA 2015 is the OPs friend here.

A new caravan leaking. An inherent defect present at point of sale. Demand a full refund or give the Dealer one chance to repair the caravan at the OPs home or Dealer collects and re delivers a properly repaired caravan.

If they need to caravan back at the dealership, the dealer obviously recognises from the photos that it is more serious than it looks and a potential damp problem. Perhaps as it is now towards the end of the season is to bite the bullet and pay a towing company to take it to the dealership.
