When you say a flat plate do you mean a plastic rectangle with a hole in it on the front ans a circular edge at the top that an awning channel could fit into ?

Hi Tapestry
Have a look at the instructions for activating the compatibility mode on Internet Explorer Click Here
or better still use a modern browser such as Google Chrome which works with internet forums

They are the intermediate poles and on the flat end should be two plates a screw and a wing nut. These go across roof from caravan to the front and the plates clamp round the horizontal poles between the center pole and end poles to give extra roof support. You should have a total of five pads for clipping on awning, for poles to hook in.
