Just purchased one of these. Unpacked the poles and labelled them all up, so far so good. But this awning is freestanding and has four legs not poles-with-hooks that go in locking clips. It doesn't look too complicated to put up but any hints, tips or useful info gratefully recieved. The instructions that came with it are less than clear. BTW, OH and I are technical idiots (and not ashamed to admit it) so words of one syllable please.

At least with the fixed poles the draught pads will be close up to the van

So it should be quite similar to this one when oooop !

I'll be watching you through my tinted windows and filling my van with laughter

Now on a serious note they are very user friendly, take a permanant marker pen with you and when it is up to your satisfaction
mark the adjustable roof poles and when you put it up the second time hey presto they will fit very easy.

Ps I was going to take mine to Poston but as yours is new and mine has faded with the sun (it was like it when I bought it s/hand and the previous owners spent all there time abroad, I dont do sunshine!!) you will show me up, so think it might have to be the Kampa

Edit; Sorry just looked again and yours is the Quattro and I have the Toronto but they do look exactly the same.

Now, now. no need for awning envy, kev. If you want a good laugh you'll have to throw a sickie and get there on the Thursday. Things to laugh at will include:
  • A disagreement over the previous labelling of the poles (you've labelled that one wrong)
  • Exclamations of "there's a piece missing" when there isn't
  • The words "Sweetie, I don't think you have done that right" uttered in tones of extreme patience with an undercurrent of gritted teeth.
  • An arguement over which way up the awning goes into the channel.
  • The discovery that the awning has gone into the channel the wrong way up.
  • The final assembly that will look more like Quasimodo than an awning.
Can't wait.
