I am considering buying the Dorema Sirocco Awning. Does anybody have any experience of use of this particular awning. It seems to be quite cheap (£475 including fibreglass poles from Towsure) but is it any good? Thanks in advance for your help.

We have a 18 month old Dorema Madison and have had the poles replaced already. It has also split at the bottom where you zip it up as the stitching is diabolical. Now discovered another issue where the stitching ahs come adrift where the side meets the top. As it is out of guarantee, they are not interested. Would I buy another Dorema? Not on your nelly!

I have a Dorema President vario, bought new two years ago. It went back to the factory at six months old to be "tailored" (FOC), because the roof sagged. Dorema said it was because "the caravan was the wrong shape for the awning". This is because the van is 1979, and modern awnings are designed to fit modern vans! The awning is in my shed, unused for over a year, because it's unuseable on my van.I certainly would not buy another Dorema.

We have that awning and we had it now for 30 moths now. The only thing different is that we got steel poles.

It as been a good awning and yes I would buy another Dorema awning but I would not get a Sirocco one. Have I thick that they have a down side to them.

As they got only one zip out front penal which is when on the van is next to the front of the caravan. Which a lot of the time we would have liked to have the back that opens as well. So when we got on sit we had a chase were we cud put owe annexes that we got as it all way seem to be in the way.

Things a side the fist time we used it the mud wall stitch came undue which they retyped strait a way but the deal lost the awning and he had to get ause a new one.

We have a Dorema Sirocco with steel poles that is now 2 years old. The awning fits well and I dont suffer from the saggy roof. Two problems so far though, the mud wall ripped against the stiching and one zip is broken so that I cant remove one of the panels. I also agree with the coment that only the front side panel can be removed. Would I buy another one? probably, but not a sirocco. They do seem good value for money. If I had a pocket full of cash though I would go for an Isabella or Bradcot.

I know the Isabella awnings are hideously expensive but they are excellent quality. I think a second-hand Isabella would be a better idea than a cheaper make of awning. I am still using an Isabella purchased in 1989, extended from 800cm to 860cm and latterly altered into a very large porch awning for our Oklahoma. I also have an Isabella full awning but use the first one from choice as it's easier to erect single-handed and, being a bit smaller, easier to dry in the garage if it gets wet.

Hi Lee,

We bought our first van in febuary. We bought a Sirocco at the same time. We picked it because it was cheapish. I have not had any major issues with it. The quick fix poles have a plastic locking nut on, I was not aware at the time but I have noticed that the material has worn thin in the places were the locking nuts are located. The only other issue is It would be nice to be able to take both end panels out insted of just one.

cheers Steve
