Double external waterproof socket

Just a thought 😱hmy:

Aldi are doing a double waterproof socket with its own rcd breaker ideal for fitting under the floor of the van to give a power supply to the awning.

I fitted one of these myself quite a few years ago 😉

Hello Roger, I could suggest that f a socket were installed inside a locker, it might allow some users to leave an electrical product plugged in and stowed in the locker. It just raises the risk that whatever it was may be left turned on when the locker was closed with the attendant hazards.

My Lunar has a wet locker with a mains outlet factory-installed in it. I believe it is there to power electrical equipment in the awning.

Edit - there's no switch on the socket either.

Most caravan manufacturers defy logic
I've come across a couple of howlers my self
1.Mains socket in wet locker (Sterling),ok it's weatherproof until you insert a domestic plug then it's no longer weatherproof. (They should supply a weatherproof plug to match the socket.)
2 Internal hinged lid for access to front gas locker so you can turn gas on/off from inside van. (can't remember the manufacturer of this howler) - possibility of gas leakage into van.
Note, sockets are weatherproof not waterproof which means submersible in water.
Has anyone come across other manufacturing howlers.

Internationally, Aldi is two separate companies - Aldi Nord and Aldi Sud - created when the two founding brothers split their business.

Aldi Sud operates in Southern Germany, Ireland, Great Britain and certain European countries while Aldi Nord operates in Northern Germany and other European countries.

To continue the 'topic drift' the idea of being able to reach through a hatch to turn on/off the gas in the front locker is to be found in several German built caravans and is not all that bad. LPG is heavier than air so any leakage round the bottle will sink not rise - hence the quite large vents usually found in front lockers.
