Dover to Calais

Hi

We are new to European caravanning and have a trip planned for the summer. We will have to arrive at Dover midnightish, is it OK to park in the the waiting areas or car park somewhere at the docks and sleep in the van for an early crossing?

Thanks

we stop at the marina on the western side of dover for a few hours.no-one bothered us there & it was "relatively" quiet.
There's no parking for more than a few minutes anywhere in the dock area at Dover, however, if you head for the promenade near to the entrance for the Seacat, you will be able to stop on the front. There's a hotel close by and the road is well lit, so it's secure.

If you are stuck for other ideas, the Caravan Club site "Black Horse Farm" is only about 10 minutes from the port and has a large area for late arrivals / early departures. You can pre-book (pay deposit) and leave agreed fee in the letter box if you want to leave before they open. Excellent loos and showers if you want to freshen up.

This site will also book you a return crossing pitch what ever time you sail.
