I guess it would be rather difficult to drive once completely around the Mediterranean. For a start you are not allowed to drive through Libya on your own (you must have a local guide). I'd also be wary about travelling through Algeria and Lebanon and I suspect you'd have to bypass Israel, both because re-entry into an Arab country could be a problem afterwards and I suspect that the border crossings are closed to normal traffic anyway.
