Hi everyone

can you tell me the best way to get a dropdown shelf for the side of my sink unit to give me more working space. Has anyone made or bought a shelf - I was thinking a one on a hinge or maybe with clips to clip it on to side of bench - this way it can be removed when not in use.Him in doors says Im always looking for jobs. regards Abbiebabby

Hi Ann - my 1998 Abbey 216 has exactly what you describe, I suggest you have a wander around caravan dealers and look in a variety of vans. Easier than describing it here - John

You can get a plstic fold out bracket from most caravan dealers

If you want to fold the shelf downwards you then need clearance to fold the shelf so a strip of timber about 1in+ thick and the width of the flap is screwed to the cupboard frame and piano hinges used to hinge the flap

The hinged bracket is screwed to the cupboard at right angles to the flap

If you reverse the piano hinge the flap can hinge upwards and then you just need a strip of timber on the wall for it to rest on and a clip to hold it up when not in use

Hope that helps

Several makers fit a wide shelf over the rear fixed bed

It folds down over the foot of the bed to increase worktop length and rests on a wooden side batten

I fitted one mtself and no problems

If a wide piece like that is Ok with just a batten at one side you will be OK on a smaller piece
