Dry Washes

Hi has anyone tried one of the drywash products on their van.

I've used the Amorall and Miracle dry wash with brilliant (pardon the pun)results on my old Bailey Majestic and my car. Takes a fraction of the shampoo and polishing times and leaves just as good a finish which lasts for yonks. Takes about 10-15 mins to do a Sportage and we've actually been stopped and asked how we keep a black car so clean Problem is we've bought a Bailey Burgundy and Bailey will only allow Care-avan products within their warranty. Spoken to managing director of Miracle Dry Wash and he's really taken aback as the product is used wideley on GRP products, boats, caravans and even aircraft with no problems elsewhere. By the way the afore mentioned firm is brilliant to deal with and very helpful. So what is the problem with the Bailey GRP panels, I'm worried as we had no problems with the old Baileys, and have heard of no other caravan manufacturer problems. Would have thought with on site water issues and envoiremental problems these products would be a god send.

I was taught that when washing a vehicle the FIRST thing to do was hose it down to remove any dirt or small particles which might cause scratches (however small) to the paintwork.

Now with this waterless system that does not happen which causes me some concern re scratching. How do you get around it ??

The problem isn't with Bailey but with the company that supplies GRP panels to them.

According to a Bailey company employee I spoke to at the NEC show, Care-avan is the only polish that the GRP supplier recommends.

Having said this, I have used Fenwicks products on a previous Bailey Ranger which never suffered any crascking of GRP panels.

We have used Fenwicks products on our Bailey vans for quite a few years now and have never had any problems .We certainly have NEVER been told that the warranty would be void and have never seen that in print,so will continue to use Fenwicks.

Does this mean that the new GRP panels supplied to Bailey are inferior to other GRP panels? I think I smell a con! Somehow I don't think the courts would agree with this.

I think any minute we will have the Polish King pop up to state how wonderful the Care a van products perform and that they are endorsed by PC magazine. I can't comment as I have never tried them.

Miracle drywash is OK if there is a problem getting ample soft water (eg some Spainish site only have very hard "grey" water which does not dry clean, but tends to leave a white deposit on the matt black trim parts of the towcar.

Iwas taught the same and the first my thing wife said was about scratching. We've tried the Armorall and Miracle dry wash and believe me if you do what is says on the box it doesn't scratch at all. Try you'll be sold. In fact a friend did her son's car with Armorall after seeing mine and he was gob smacked and he used to valet cars for a living.

If you go to a Bailey dealership now you'll be told only to use Care-avan products, not only that but Bailey have replied to and email of mine and informed me that only by using the afore mentioned product will you not indemnify my warranty

Miracle dry wash and the other dry wash products are ok if like me your van is now stored about 8 miles away with no water point or if you're on site anwant to keep your van and car decent.

Yes you are correct the panels are supplied to many Top Caravan Manufacturers.
