Anybody know how to get rid of earwigs? We seem to be inundated with them at home. Actually, I suppose I mean how to deter them......I know how to get rid of them!

Sue you could try vinegar , we visited a honey farm recently and they said if you want to deter Ants use vinegar , i have never tried it yet , but you could try it on the earwigs , the ants wont cross the path where vinegar has been smeared

I'll take your word for it, LB (you're full of useless, erm, stuff aren't you? hehe). Thanks, Joeby. However, as my husband can't stand the smell, let alone the taste, of vinegar, I don't think that solution would go down too well! lol

Hmm, so basically hermetically seal ourselves inside the house, having first cut down and cleared away all the lovely roses, climbing hydrangea, clematis etc covering the house walls, and dug up all the plants in the borders surrounding the house and concreted it all over. And clear the gutters, of course. And have rolled up newspaper scattered around on the concrete outside, in which the nasty little pests will sleep, and tip them all into a bucket of soapy water and drown them in the morning. Or sink empty tuna cans with a little leftover oil in them into the ground surrounding the house (that's if there is any ground left) into which, obligingly, the earwigs will crawl. I'm worn out just thinking about it! LOL. Thanks, Sproket

Ii think there must have been some favourable conditions for earwigs this year. Earwigs give me the creeps big time. For the first time ever, we've had some in the house. We are normally alerted to their appearance by one of the dogs who thinks it's great to flick them about with its paw. Yuck.
