Hiya

Stayed there a year or so back. It isn't walking distance from Murrayfield but you can get a bus which goes past the entrance. Seems to be a popular place, 5*, but I didn't like it - high walls, topped off with security fencing and a view towards one of the less attractive sets of high flats I've ever seen. There are other sites around Edinburgh worth checking out. Edinburgh is not worth driving in. Find local public transport and take that. Otherwise fight against over-zealous traffic wardens, costly parking fees and a rapidly changing road system made worse by the 'big dig' in the centre to install tram lines. Having said all that, edinburgh is a fantastic city!

Lance I would endorse most of what Elaine says. The reaseon for the fencing is the neighbouring districts of Muirhouse and Granton. However the fencing does work and I have never had any bother there. Looking the other way it is out to the forth and long promenade beach walks are avalable.

I can't remeber offhand how much a day rider cost's for lrt buses maybe about

Hi there,

The following sites all have a good reputation:-

Linwater

Morton Hall

Drummohr

You will be able to Google their web sites.

The Club Site at Edinburgh has good security but unfortunately it is adjacent to a run down housing estate.

We have stayed at the Edinburgh CC site many times over many years.

The flats mentioned are hardly that close and when we were last there were being demolished anyway.

Never had any security issues on this site.

To my mind an ideal location.

A beautiful and clean site with easy access, but a 15 minute drive into the city centre. I found the traffic wardens very helpful with directions to car parks.

We have stayed there at least once a year for several years now, and have had absolutely no problems at all - a first class site. Reasonably secluded with trees and bushes around the perimiter, the presence of a nearby housing estate (some several hundred yards away) presents no problem at all, as there is a grass park in between. That is on the south side, and to the north, you can cross the road and walk down to the shore of the Forth. The bus stops right at the gate, giving easy access to the city, and this makes it a eminently suitable site for visiting Edinburgh.

It is a lovely site, well screened with trees and shrubs, you would not know you were in a residential area. We were there in September sat outside our van watching squirrels playing in the trees opposite, most noise was from the bird song!!! The back of the site borders on to a golf course.

We always stay here when visiting Edinburgh. Good buses into the city centre or Leith and Ocean Terminal.

We have been many times - great CC site with two immaculate toilet blocks - even piped music - several service pitches - two minutes walk down to the Firth of Forth - its not too difficult to find from M8/A720 - only downside is some aircraft noise into and out of Edinburgh airport but not too intrusive - recommend handy bus into Edinburgh from gate rather than going in by car

Hi,

Only stayed once, and could not find fault with the actual site. Clean and well kept. Never felt there would be a security problem and don't believe there is. Buses stop right outside the site gate and they took you in to Edinburgh centre, or the other way to the docks - HMS Britannia worth a visit and a day rider ticket is very good value. Only thing I would say with the buses is they seem to stop at every bus stop some of which seemed only 100 mtrs apart! so if in a rush take the car. There was a great Indian takeaway just down the road and the aircraft noise could get on you nerves after a few days, but then I guess this is what you can expect on a city site.
