EHU for the future.

Our latest trip at Pickering involved this new type of EHU. You pay in advance for 180kw, at the same rate charged to the owner.Download the card and away you go. At the end reinsert card and the owners reimburse any balance left. The site was FSP with large area and a picnic table. £25 per night, plus all their first class facilities. Showers were £1.00 for 8 minutes. A very fair way imo.

What was your usage over the stay? Sounds an excellent way to supply electrical power.

I agree and we have stayed on a site that has a similar system operating. You pay in advance £3 per day and if you have used less than the £3 per day, you are reimbursed. If the amount is below £1 they ask if you would like to donate the money to the NSRI.

Possibly the way forward but presumably it would need a substantial outlay to install which might put many sites off this.

Stayed on a CL that had meters, it cost him £1100 to put the system in on 5 pitches. He dropped his pitch charge to £15 from £18 and you pay for electric on top. Ours was £3ppn so the same as before. There is not a hope of him making the cost back in his lifetime.

At £1100 for 5 meters that was fairly cheap. A CL that we use looked at the cost of installtion and decided it was not worthwhile. However the 5 meters work off the main meter to the home and are sub meters and do not require certification or calibration every few years.

I'm puzzled, Why would a site that used £GBP wish you donate excess payments to an organisation in South Africa?
Like you we all make mistakes as no one is perfect. I think you know I meant RNLI in the UK, but I have no objection if it did go to the NSRI which we used to support when living by the seaside. Who cares where the small change goes as long as it is to a good cause.

It seems many people who were supporters of the RNLI have decided to 'stand down' due to the number of immigrants the RNLI are bringing ashore in the South East.

Those people don't seem to realise that the RNLI are tasked by the MCA and cannot refuse to respond - they are not in themselves responsible for what they 'collect' and deliver to our shores.

This has nothing whatsoever to do with EHU or caravans

Agree with your post. It’s the same ethos of saving lives at sea for most mariners, including navies. The RNLI do a fantastic job and don’t deserve the ill informed criticism that comes their way.
