Can someone please explain if there are any differences between the Avante 556 and the Corona 556? It appears they are made by the same manufacturer (Explorer) but there must be differences or why do the make the same model twice.

We were interested in the Avante until a dealer said their own model was based on it, but infact their brochure indicates it is a Corona and we don't know if we should pursue it or not.

Thanks

Confused potential buyer.

As far as I know there is little or no difference between the Avante and Corona except for the graphics and interior trim.

We have a dealer special - a Mendip Magnum 636 which is based on the Compass Corona 636

When we bought it I went very carefully through the spec sheets comparing it with the Corona and the Compass Omega and the spec was more Omega than Corona with the one really obvious difference being the heavily smoked glass you get on the Omega being absent.

I have said this on another thread but why not go to one of the shows, we went to the Mendip stand and then a Compasss dealers stand and then back again.

We ended up getting the Magnum cheaper than the best price for the Corona and much less than the price we were offered at Mendip the week before.

I believe the salesman are able to give their best deals at these shows.

Thanks for the advice Garry but we unfortunately can't go to the NEC because of work and holidays. The dealer we are thinking of buying from has offered to ring us with the show offer details and we can put down a deposit, refundable if we don't like the van when we see it next week. I assume the trim will be different anyway with it being a 'special'

Thanks for your suggestions Garry. We are talking to a dealer who is at the show, but I hadn't thought about trying other dealers there, by phone. Great idea.
