electric fault

Hi I have a problem with my white plug, when I go to plug lead into cars socket and then connect brakeaway cable to car, I get sparks from the cable,as if its earthing its self again. have I a damaged lead or white car socket

Denis The earth for all your electrics driven of the car battery is on the car it self. The fact that the break cable is acting as a return suggest that you have a fault in the cabling on the caravan. If you have not blown any fuses on the car it is likely to be one of the return wires. Have a good look next to the hand brake mechanism. Theo

It sounds as if the earth to the car or socket are faulty.Pin 3(white) is the earth and Pin7(black) is the deicated earth for the fridge. Both need to be connected on post 1996ish vans although pre 1996 will work with both connected as well
