electric heater suddenly packed up

We are going away on Thursday in the van.

I was cleaning out the caravan last weekend and had the heating on whilst I was doing it (everything worked fine)

hubby came to put the heating on now and it doesnt work on electric for some bizarre reason.??

Works fine on gas.

Anyone point us in the right direction..simple/easy problem?

lose wire? element gone?

its a carver 4000 (I think)

please bear in mind you are responding to 2 simpleton's if you respond....!! many thanks! 🙂

I would try the MCB (circuit breaker) first, see if it has tripped, or maybe,it has been turned off at the control console whilst cleaning.

thanks ray (that is a possibility with my heavy handed cleaning)

where exactly is the circuit breaker, hubby is at work (nights) so I can mention this to him! thanks!

Hi

In my Swift it is in the tall cupboard that houses the table etc,

but will need help on locations in other c'vans but am sure someone can help.

So I'll ask the question, what make & model have you?

First thing to check if the lights on the slide switch are working ok is the 'kettle plug', this plugs the mains into the control box on the back of the fire and is prone to work itself out. The box is top right of the fire at the back and the plug is at the bottom of this about 6inches down, it may well just need pushing back in and thats pushing it toward the middle of the fire

thanks for your suggestions.

We have a bailey "regency" (aka single axle senator)

the heater is a carver 4000 or 4400

told hubby your ideas, just to let you know the "fan" itself is working on the fire - we just dont have any heat on electric

ALL SORTED, thanks for all your help everyone.

The switch had been knocked whilst cleaning....oops.

At least it was easily solved. You lot are so helpful on here.
