I am a pretty competent DIY'er and have fitted electric showers in bathrooms and new spurs and lights in kitchens at home BUT this was all before the new regulations saying work had to be carried out or checked by qualified personnel. Do the same rules apply to washrooms in caravans. I ask because we need to fit an electric towel rail to our Swift Charisma 550, primarily to dry towels in bad weather but also to supplement the pathetic blown air system in there. Has anyone done this before and do they have any advice?

Hi John,

There is a fairly lengthy and detailed thread about adding a heated towell rail on the Swift Talk forum. Many people have added towel rails and there are lots of details about how they did it. Try cutting and pasting this URL into your browser -

Having said that, the revised electrical rules are there for good reason, so even if you go ahead and do it yourself (it took me about 4 hours, but then I was savouring it) do get it checked by a competent expert.

Cheers

Mike

Thanks for that Mike, just what I needed. Took a while to get past the several pages of people claiming they had the secret to warming up the bathroom with blown air LOL.
