electrical towing conections

I HAVE A S/H 2003 CAR ALREADY FITTED WITH TOW BAR& 2 ELECTRCAL CONNECTORS & HAVE A 1998 CARAVAN. I have heard that there is some differences in the wireing due to recent changes in circuit connections for the fridge? please can someone advise on how & what to check.

If you wire the car to the pre 1996ish system plus the black earth lead to pin 7(centre) then it will work with any caravan wired to both standards

many thanks damion & john,I dont Know what year van the previous owner of the car a C5, had but the van reverse lights did not work & then the car reverse lights started playing up?

your info will help in checkin it out
