electrolux fridge

being a first time buyer got caught out buying a seen as sold van, tried to check fridge only then noticed no electric on/of switch, hole there, switch missing, when I phoned company I bought it from they said it was my responsibility but they did give me contact number for spares, when I made enquiries was told couldn't get it because of age of van its a 1997 Abbey expression can anyone help?

Dianne,

The caravan manufacturer won't have made the fridge, it's just a bought in component - and is probably a Dometic fridge, but could be another brand name...

Look for the makers plate on the fridge - makers name and model number - and then look up that company on the 'net.

If it's Dometic, then their caravan web pages start at:

http://www.dometic.com/enuk/Europe/United-Kingdom/Caravan/
And don't worry about the age - fridges don't change much from year to year - and spare parts shouldn't be an issue...

thanks for reply the fridge is an electrolux

rm4200 have looked on their site no sign of this model number

Hi Dianne, Your fridge will be an Electrolux, 1997 the parts will be available, try these people http://www.leisurespares.co.uk/ they are the main suppliers for Electrolux and Dometic, you will need to quote the fridge i.d no: which is found inside the fridge on a plate, it will be RMXXXX. Good luck.

thanks metz but no plate in fridge giving model number, but handbook says rm4200 so I'll go with that

The data plates for Electrolux fridges are usually inside the fridge itself and may require laying on the floor of the 'van to read.

If you can get a circuit diagram for the model - which i agree is likely to be RM series, then it should be possible to replace the switch, although not necessarily with a matching unit. Basically, the switch is only and Off/ one / or two way selector switch,
