Hi I've got an Electrolux RM6291l fridge electric ignition and I'm having trouble keeping the pilot on
As a gas safe Reg fitter I'm happy knowing that what I've changed is correct
Thermocouple, injector, main gas control tap, spark generator, HT lead and the pilot assembly seems ok.
The problem I'm having is when I light it the pilot is on but when the button is released the pilot goes out.
If I pull the pilot assembly apart and light it and reposition the thermocouple and release the button the pilot stays on but put it back together relight it it won't stay on.
What am I missing I've had 12 months to fix this but 1 week away from our holiday I'm pulling out my very thin hair

Hello Bengrim,

You tell us the pilot light is ok, in terms of size and colour, I assume as registered gas fitter you are aware of how much of the thermocouple needs to be immersed in the pilot flame. So what is left.

It could be a faulty thermocouple.
It could be the gas valve is obstructed and the flame failure defeat action is not fully resetting the solenoid when you press the knob..
it could be the thermocouple is not fully screwed into the end of the gas valve, or the contacts are contaminated.
It could be the solenoid in the gas valve is faulty.

Everything in that department seems ok as I stated in my original post it all works when I dismantle the pilot assembly form it's fixed position and manually insert the thermocouple it's only when I refit it all that the pilot does not want to stay in, I'm not moving any pipes or cables to cause a fault when reinstalling to cause a fault it's doing my head in as a gas safe installer I'm doing everything by the book.
Is there any sort of electrical component I'm overlooking as electrics are not my thing

Yes Fridges do have pilot lights, in so far the pilot light is used to inform the flame failure device wheterh a flame is present or not.

Cleaning the thermocouple mounting point won't do any harm, but it won't affect the ground circuit either, becasue the thermocouples are supplied with a copper or braided sleeve, and that is the ground connection and is taken all the way back to the gas valve where the FFD solenoid is located.

Some products do have a thermocouple interrupter, which is some times used with an interlock. Whilst my experience is not universal, I am not aware of fridges with interrupters on caravans.
