emoticons

Evening Mr Moddy.Recent correspondence has brought up the subject of making your feelings known when posting ie: joking, serious, etc. This can be done on other forums by the use of "emoticons" Is there any chance we could have them on our forum?

Emmerson I noyiced you used this word on a previous posting this evening. As I replied to that posting I admire your knowledge of the English language - what do you mean though as I have not come across this word before?

Colin, I did reply to your question on the other thread, possibly as a comment to a comment.

Thank you Emmerson - I did notice after typing in tnis request. What do you think of Mr. Mod3 now eh?

Picked up a free envelope in Tesco's today encouraging the stopping of smoking. Opened it up and lo and behold there was a large page of "stick on" emoticons. Therefore Emmerson should you wish for these little faces to appear on your posting visit Tesco pick up a free envelope and every time you make a posting stick one on your monitor - you will then be able to see your emotions straight away.

Emmerson if you were to stick these emoticons over the Tippex it would have a two fold effect:

Initially it would brighten your day/evening and secondly it would hide all you errors and therefore would make you feel less embarressed when someone is looking over your shoulder.

I know this sounds a daft question but:

How do you pronounce 'emoticon'? what does it rhyme with? Is it the same as 'emotion'?

Ta

You can split the word "emoticon" into 4 parts to answer that.

EMO, as in a person with a cold, trying to say Nemo, Lord and master of the seas.

T, as in a drink with jam and bread.

I, as in, ee that pint was grand.

CON, as in Gordon Brown.
