Encroaching a bit!

Posted on an FB group today.

This person came back to their van to find this. They complained only to be told that the tent were regulars so they did not want to upset them. They would not name the site, but it is Cornwall.

If its "real" which is hard to credit then given the site owner's quoted response I would have recorded it and contacted the local authority who if it was neither an exempt site, or a sub 28 day per year site, they would have to have granted planning permission.

If it was an exempt site I would have been contacting the organisation holding the Natural England, DEFRA, exemption, along with the Department itself.

I don't like losing sites, but I feel that's decidedly better than risking losing lives.

Its absolutely unacceptable by any standards, thus I am inclined to think its a contrived social media stunt.

Whitehills at Stoke Gabriel have tent pitches white lined, tents and all the equipment has to be kept within the marked area,it area has a significant space between, helps to avoid any flames spreading,it's a very nice site, they also have sections for caravans and motorhomes

I feel sure it is real. Many responses on FB suggesting similar to those on here. The caravan owners say’s she will disclose the name of the site when she moves on. She said she was worried about come back. She also promises to report it.

I had similar pitching, a long time ago. not quite that bad , we had a "Yard" space between units, at the C and CC site at Lynmouth and Lynton site. The wardens were moved due to the situations. ,
We were new to caravanning and didn't know any different.

The FB poster has just revealed the name of the site. Though I like the idea of name and shame, where it is proven. I will not repeat it for three reasons.

  • It may go against forum rules.
  • It is second hand information that I cannot verify.
  • The site gets great reviews on Trip Advisor.

If anyone really wants to know then pm me.
