Recently I have seen changes that left me wondering who why where and how?

A number of perceived social disadvantages . Replaced with Intersectionality.

The Dad’s Army film now carries a warning. This film contains attitudes from the 70’s 🙀 Hang on . I grew up in the 60’s & 70’s. What’s wrong with my attitudes🙉

I was a local Flood Warden. Now I am a CRV. Community Resilience Volunteer.

First Aider . Now I’m told we are training to be NHS Community First Responders, CFRs😵‍💫 The ruck sack with all the equipment weighs 10 kgs!
CPR. Do it for up to 20 minutes. Wow! Five years ago most of us were knackered after a couple of minutes, most only managed one minute.

There’s been a real “uptick” in new words or changes to existing words. Can’t stand the word “uptick”.

Letters from hospital to BIL start off Dear surname….. No “Mr”. Yet his heath records quite clearly states correspondence should be addressed as “Mr surname. Fortunately he is now not able to read them so he doesn’t get upset.

Language does evolve overtime and I understand that, but we seem to be in an age of marketing BS. The reaching out thing really gets onmy {insert appropriate body part here}.

Changes are ok as long as the ability to communicate isn't lost.

Remember when companys had a Personnel Department - now its Human Resources and that really says it all because we are no longer people but just a resource to be hired or fired at the whim of the company shareholders. Do I sound a bit bitter? Yes, because my office was closed down at 24hrs noticed and all the equipment was retained and sent back to head office but we were all let go. Rant over.


FWIW: I've just started reading Wuthering Heights - well attempting to anyway because the language/grammer is so different and I'm struggling. Don't get me started on Robbie Burns either!

American business/marketing speak combined with constantly changing political correctness, is responsible.
At 65, I believe that my family has always been at the cutting edge. I remember my grandmother having wireless when I was only 5, she used to search for gay music. Years later, for my social life, all I could afford was an old banger of an escort, but for work I used to slip into a black tranny. I dont drive any fords these days.
Just wait for all the Gen Z lingustics to become main-stream. That'll be so sick bruh's.
