Enlarging Holes for fridge vents

Hi,

Can't get winter blanks for my fridge vents and as they are old and damaged I'm thinking of replacing the vents with slightly larger ones that do have winter blanks. To do this I will need to increase the holes by aprox 6mm in width and 8mm in height. While I can probably cut out the extra easily enough, my concern is how deep the wood is that surrounds the holes inbetween the inner and outer skins of the caravan that I will eventually be screwing the new vents into. Any one got any idea of likely size please? It is a 15 year old Swift.

I would suggest contacting Swift who would be best placed to advise.

Wrap some masking tape on a 3mm drill bit about 1 inch from the tip, remove old vent and then drill a small hole sideways through the wood, with care you can then make a fairly accurate judgement on how deep the wood goes back.

Thanks, great idea.
