Enlarging skylight opening

Hi all,
Just purchased a replacement skylight 400x400 but it does not fit in the original hole. Can someone tell me how to cut 6 to 8mm from the roof opening. Thanks in advance.

Surely it would be much easier to return the 400mmx@400mm skylight to exchange it for one of the correct size?

I don't think anyone makes a 395mm square skylight for my sized hole.

If the hole has had a wooden frame fitted round the hole (as it should have) then the wood must be thick enough to enable 3 to 4mm to be removed all the way round. Using a jigsaw with a long blade.
If you slide a metal ruler between the roof lining and the frame you may be able to feel when the wood ends and the insulation begins.

You only need to remove 2.5mm from each edge.
Drill a suitable hole at the apex of each corner so the outer circumference is no more than + 2.5mm of the original
Stick some masking tape or similar on the roof surface and mark up.
As said earlier cut with a long but fine new blade in the jig saw.
