ESM2000 Charger Problems.....Anyone help??

I have a 2001 Sterling which has a ESM 2000 charger/transformer fitted. It seem to be faulty.

When I connect to the hookup and switch on, the battery meter reads about 60%. After some use of the 12v items the meter drops and won't go back up. It steadly gets worse until no power. I have checked all the fuses I can find, starting at the battery and working my way to the charger unit. They all seem fine. I followed the tests in the magazine and it appears the unit is done.

This unit has all the switches, fuses, MCB's combined in one unit, no seperate switch panel.

Can anyone advise any other tests and has anyone had one of these repaired. Can anyone suggest a suitable replacement, other than the same type, that will roughly fit.

Thanks for any help....

PLEASE don't mess about with this if you have no ideas what your looking at or doing as you can quite easily kill yourself (

Sorry to be blunt, but sometimes if you have to ask, you obviously don't know enoough for your safety, so don't touch.

Your probably sorted now, but its only a matter of replacing the transformer or bridge rectifier. Disconnect your batteries, check there is a voltage going to the transformer 250v (about), then check to see if there is an ac voltage out, about 14v.

If there is a low voltage output, check the bridge rectifier output, if okay, your problem is between there and your battery.
