hi

Does anyone know if you turn up early for the shuttle will they let you on an earlier train (if they have the room of course).

Or is there anywhere to park up and wait.

Thanks

As others have said there is a 2 hour window either side of your booked time. If you use the automatic booking system it will offer you the opportunity of an earlier crossing if they are available. The same will happen if you deal with a human as well!

Although the booking says there is a 2 hour window, coming home last weekend I was offered a train 3 1/2 before my booked time at no extra cost. Other years there has been a charge to leave more than two hours early.

With or without the van in tow I've never been able to get on an earlier train travelling from UK to France, always had to wait for my "booked" crossing.

However, France to UK, couldn't be more helpful!! "would you like to go on the next available train or would you prefer to choose which one you'd like to cross on"

Hi,

As a frequent user of Eurotunnel, I'd just like to confirm that it's as easy and flexible as others have said, but also a bit more complex too...

The more complex part is that the crossings are divided into different price bands - if your new earlier (or later) crossing are in the same price band - you should be offered a crossing (at no extra charge) providing there is space...

If the earlier crossing falls into a higher priced band, then you will be offered the earlier crossing - for the price difference...

Thanks for your reply, i booked my train last november and got it at a lot cheaper price than if i were to book it today, so still not sure whether they would charge me extra.

My train is booked for 8.00am but would like to cross approx 5.00am - hopefully this will be before the rush so i might be ok.

thanks again

I've been booked to go & return on the cheapest price band for the last 3 years. Going out at 05.50 there is always plenty of spare space. The first return train in my band this year was 22.10 but I arrived at the French terminal early and was offered 18.40 at no extra charge. The French seem more flexible on price banding.

Hi

The software for the automated check-in booths is the same in France and the UK...

And that brings up a point - rather than enter the travel reference number - just push the credit card you used to purchase the ticket into the slot - this short-cuts all of the registration process except to ask if you have a LPG powered car (or animals). If you do change to an earlier crossing - and a charge needs to be made - then you will be prompted to insert your card again - the short-cut just reads your name from the card...

If you've booked an 0800 crossing - then arriving earlier shouldn't be a problem...

What about when you use Tesco clubcard vouchers would you still

be able to get onto an earlier train.

We want to take our dog with us and have been told the tunnel is better. Is this right?

Don't know about the Tesco vouchers but so long as you put your booking Ref. No. in the automatic machine I don't see why it would be any different to a card payment.

I think it's much better taking my dog through the tunnel. 35 minutes in the car along with the driver and passengers, the dog thinks you're just driving on the road. On the ferry I think the dog has to stay alone in the car and in rough weather might get thrown about a bit. Last thing I'd want is a sea-sick dog and the resulting smell in the car for the onward trip!

The Tesco vouchers work the same, you may already know this but you haVE TO APPLY ONLINE FOR VOUCHERS FROM tESCO THEN YOU PHONE UP Eurotunnel they take a reservation for you you then have to forward the vouchers to them then they send you an E mail confirming your booking and your booking reference number which you put into the auto machine. So you can get on earlier We took our dog and it was easy as we were with her all the time,on most ferries dog has to stay alone in vehicle.Hope this helps.

I normally book my summer ticket on Eutotunnel the previous November/December. Once confirmed I decide where I'm going to go. The times/prices are shown online and are very clear and easy to understand. For the last 3 years I have paid
