I have a crossing for 3.50pm on Monday, i was wondering how early can i arrive at the terminal. We are now able to leave home earlier and was wondering if we would be able to get on a earlier crossing or i not how long can we be there before departure

It all depends. In theory, you should only get there within an hour of your crossing - they don't want the parking area too busy. We have never been early going out, but have been a couple of hours early for our return on two or three occasions. Each time, the person in the check-in booth has let us through with the sticker for the next available shuttle - very helpful. Don't know whether the automatic booths would be as helpful, though!!
You could try giving them a call, or just turn up early with a prepared "very sorry, but..." story, smile and say "thank you".
If you are not crossing at a peak time, there will almost certainly be space on a shuttle.

We usually get there a couple of hours early, many of the booths are self check in using the reference number on your email, the last couple of times it identifies your car numberplate and greets you by name on the screen. When you confirm ,if there are any earlier options it offers you them stating no charge options. We were really early in France and an operator came over and said we were too early for a free change but could pay £20 ish in Euros for a crossing(about 12 hours early) which we did as wife was ill.The worst they will do is open a barrier and send you out and tell you to come back nearer the time

The Eurotunnel T&C's say that you have a 2 hour window either side of your booked time when they will try and get you on the next available crossing assuming there is room. They may ask you to go to the parking area to wait for your crossing to be called. As an alternative you can amend your booking for free upto 24 hours prior to departure. However you may be asked to pay the difference between the fare you paid for and the current fare. Given the time of year I expect you will be better turning up a couple of hours earlier to see if you can get on an earlier crossing.

We had booked a 7.20am outward bound crossing last Monday morning, checked in at 6.20 but was bumped onto the 7.50 crossing. Not happy – could have stayed in bed a little longer!
