Ex HMS ??????????

Ahoy Gumbo,

Ex RN Chef here, joined 1965 (Ganges) left 1976.

HMS Chichester, Highburton, Hermes, Conqueror, Churchill, Renown, Onslaught.

As you can see I favoured the depths rather than bobbing around on the surface.

Married a Chatham girl and settle there after leaving the mob.

Hi Gumbo,

I was lucky, my caravanning experiences remind me so much of the subs. Small galley, restricted space, rolling motion in bad weather, a captain who HAS to be obeyed, beds in racks etc.

I think Fearless and Intrepid were the last RN ships with boilers, maybe wrong there though?

My shift mate is an ex Stoker PO, Joe Ellwood, wonder if you may know him? I know he served on Juno, Minerva and Achilles.
