Could be but isn’t directly caravan related.

New kitchen fitted 2 yrs 7 months ago.
Bosch equipment sold by a major retailer . We paid extra on the ovens to increase the 2 year warranty to 5 years. The microwave combined oven literally blew up yesterday emitting the most foul accrid smoke.

Last year , I found out today , the Warranty Insurer went into liquidation. Bust!

Now seems a firm in the Phillipines bought the book of business. No one told us.

The new firm say we only bought Accidental damage insurance not extended warranty.

After 70 minutes on the phone , five people later , one of whom I really couldn’t understand his English, I got a part answer. One of their engineers is coming to our home next week to fix it.
Depending how this visit goes I may have to ask the following :-

So
Should someone have told me the original Insurer had gone bust?

My policy had been sold to another Insurer?

Do I have any rights available against the original seller of the extended warranty?

Can I pursue Bosch for a product that has failed outside their own 24 months warranty?

Am I stuffed and will have to carry the loss myself?

I know I have Which ? Legal.
Legal expenses cover on our home insurance.

Hopefully these fall backs will not be necessary but more next week😎

We once had insurance cover for some kitchen items with a well known domestic goods insurance company, but when it came to making a claim, we had to jump through many hoops and then told that the fault was not covered as it was wear and tear. Same happened with SIL when her tumble drier packed in and it was an uphill battle to get it repaired. It was eventually replaced. On working out what she had paid in over nearly 4 years, if she had put the money aside, she could have bought a better brand at a higher price.

I fear that if the original insurer ceased trading then you are, as you say, stuffed. It's unlikely that another insurer would have taken on the risks without having received any premiums for it.
I could of course be wrong, but logic tells me I am probably correct.
