Get this! So simple. We have made a freestanding table which rests on the seat near the sink unit.Under it there is storage space for my cumbersome and all important handbag, and a shelf above gives an extended worktop and a useful cubbyhole to hide all the bits and pieces which accrue at a moment's notice.

Quite ingenious, although not for us as we have enough storage and kitchen surface it is not for us.
