F.A.O Andy at Swift

we have an Abbey GTS 418 which we bought new last year. We had a list of repairs which took up an A4 sheet of paper of faults needing rectified under warranty (some quite major) and they were rectified by the dealer we bought the caravan from. One of the faults was the common problem with the front middle window flexing during travel causing an internal imprint where the panels rubbed together. This window was duly replaced but unfortunately after a few months developed the same fault. A replacement window was ordered by our dealer back in July and having chased it up have been told there is a manufacturer's backlog as the problem is widespread and has affected other caravan manufacturers as well as the Swift range of caravans from last year. What annoys me more than anything is that our dealer is based 70 miles away from where we live and we have already had two round trips to rectify the faults which would not have been needed if quality control had done their job properly or if better quality materials had been used in the manufacture. I appreciate that Swift have been let down by the manufacturers of these windows and other components but these problems are costing me time and money to try and get them sorted out, fuel is not cheap. So far, 280 miles and 6 hours driving with a further 140 miles and 3 hours round trip when the window eventually becomes available - who is going to compensate me for that? How much longer do we have to wait? We are hoping to upgrade to a new caravan at the NEC show this month but where do we stand with this outstanding repair?

Tony this maybe better placed under General with the title Centre front window problem, or in the post earlier placed.

I am sure Andy or Ash will pick it up.

l was the same has you, replaced the window with one that was produced before August 09 it failed after 150 miles, placed it on the post Centre window Andy picked it up got Miriad to come and fit the latest one, they duly arrived 1 week after placing the post, but with the wrong one, mine is an Ace and requires the Mkii they fetched the Mkiii that was Tuesday, the fitter phoned Miriad they had mine in stock, fitted it Friday same week so l don't know why the dealers are saying there are hold ups.

You could give Miriad a ring to see if they have yours in stock, the difference between Mkii and Mkiii is the size the Ace is smaller than the Swift not sure about the Abbey centre window, they will tell you.

You will find Miriad are the agents for Polyplastics and are part of CMI who fit the Truma movers and ATC.

Hope this helps.

Hi Tony,

Firstly, apologies for missing your post, I have only just seen it.

The MKIII windows are available, and there should no longer be any delays in fulfilling customer / dealer orders for replacement windows.

If you want to drop me an e-mail with some specific details (youre names, chassis number, dealer, etc.), I can certainly look into the status of your order and advise when your window will be dispatched.

Thanks,

Dave

Hi Andy, Just want to say a big thank you for your help with my problem. Myriad fitter came out to my home and replaced the window - he pointed out that the new window has a slightly bigger cavity and hopefully no further problem. I was so glad not to have to travel all the way back to the dealer for the repair. Thanks again, Tony
