Falling coat hangers

Just lagged an outside pipe with foam round lagging that slots round the pipe and remembered that I had read somewhere that it could be used to stop coat hangers falling whilst travelling.
As the wife is always complaining about her clothes ending up on the floor of the wardrobe at the end of a journey I have used a piece of lagging to secure coat hangers to the wardrobe hanging pole. It seems to work in storage as I tried to dislodge the hangers without success but will it work on a journey? I will let you know next week when we get back from Bath

Any one else used this method ?

Normally we hook the hangers either way over the bar & then drape a bath towel over them ......

We used to have the same problem, but now I have taken a piece of fishing elastic ( used in pole fishing ) and made into a oval band like normal elastic bands, but a lot stronger. Our hanger is located under a shelf with ends hanging down. The band is looped over one end then wrapped over the hangers and looped over the other end so holding the hangers onto the rail. It has worked fine over the last 2 years.

We never travel with hanging clothes due to the stresses on the fixings with the caravan bouncing around. I obviously incorrectly assumed no one else did especially if the wardrobe is to the rear of the wheels!

We're with you on that one Surfer. We always travel with the wardrobe hanging rails empty for the same reasons as you. Any dresses or coats either travel in the car or laid out on the beds.

Well for the past 13 years we have always used the coat hangers in all the vans we have owned without any problems, cannot believe that other people experience these problems.

hey Kev if your wife's like mine there so much crammed into wardrobe nothing can fall off.
