Just been dog walking with a young 82 year old lady and her dogs. She belongs to the Caravan Club Loners Club. A group of men and women of all ages who are single widowed etc but do not want to give up caravanning.
Fantastic to speak to this very capable lady who had never towed until her husband passed away. She did a CC towing course. All the members help each other and thoroughly enjoy themselves.

SWMBO says the only thing she can't manage are the Al-ko wheel locks. Perhaps Al-ko can design a more user friendly locking system???

It's never easy going it alone and over the time little peep and I were doing it we never found a group that looked as if it would suit widowed parents. (or should I say suit us, there was one group!) What it does highlight is how important it is for the ladies who think they would still do it alone to start while we're still around, just so they have a head start. Luckily it seems as if more and more are now taking their turn behind the wheel. Luckily we're still using the bulldog max but when I was out of action last year the only thing swmbo struggled with was the hitch head stabilizer. I am taking more and more of a back seat on the towing nowadays and really just keeping my hand in, I do get given the keys though when there's an awkward space to back into, or it's a long journey!! Well done though to all those who do go it alone, we have a friend who is now pushing 90 and still out on the field and enjoying the freedom of his van.
