Hi Kevin,
There is a campsite just about halfway between Gütersloh and Paderborn. It's called Campingplatz Am Furlbach and it's located in Schloss Holte-Stukenbrock. I haven't been there myself, but by all accounts that I can find, I think it can be recommended. The facilities are rated quite highly and it's listed as being relatively quiet.
I don't know whether you have any children, but there's a Safari Park just 3km away from the campsite.

Thanks Lutz, I did look at their website, looks like the best in the area.
Once again thank you

There is also ACSI site at Heisen, Camping Weserbergland, 57 minutes away from Paderborn.

I stayed at the following about 8 years ago, when we were based about an 1 hour away in Hameln.

http://www.am-waldsee.de/
http://www.lippeseecamping.de/

both are about 15 min - 20 mins from Paderborn town center and both are on lakes. we only stayed for weekend breaks, both were pleasant enough and we always had relaxing times with the kids.Waldsee was next to a British military camp they had Challenger 2 Tanks from what I remember, we didnt hear them at the weekends but I expect youd hear them during the week, its also within an easy 10 min cycle ride to Lidl and the shops in Sennelager. Lippesee is on the other side of Sennelager and not far from the NAAFI (British forces supermarket), however to shop there you would need a permit. close by is also a caravan dealer with small shop
