We cook pretty much the same as at home. If we're away just for the weekend (winter - summer the cadac comes out more!) I take a meal I have already prepared at home - curry, chilli, stew etc. Sometimes its meat & veg.....

On holiday i do have shortcuts though - ie buying ready prepared fresh vegs, jars of marinade etc

You cant beat an early morning fry up in the caravan....nothing better than the smell of bacon frying and a pot of tea to go with it.

During the summer we do more "bits and pieces" meals...

cooked chicken pieces (eaten cold) with salad, pasta salad, pickled onions etc.

Cheese, chutney and biscuits.

All washed down with cold glass of cider!

Breakfast is the important one. Grilled sausage, bacon toms and a poached or fried egg so the hob is busy then but it certainly warms the van up a bit (phew) too much! We have salads for evening, BBQ and also carry an electric steamer for when on hookup for veg, fish etc. I think we eat well really when away. We also treat ourselves to a restaurant many times as I see it as we are saving on holiday costs (eg hotel prices etc) so have more cash to spend elsewhere. But we enjoy the fun of campsite cooking too, especially when our young grand kids are with us!!

We also took a steamer with us last weekend. Uses the electric your paying for(not that i'm tight, but i am Scottish), and saves you having three pans steaming up the caravan.

Best thing we have ever bought for the caravan is our Slow Cooker.

Meal for 2 or 4 takes about 15 minutes to prepare first thing (or do it the night before and put all the ingredients in a container or seal bag in the fridge overnight), and then pop the lid on, plug in, and off we go for the day.

Back to a steaming hot plate of stew, casserole, hot-pot or whatever, with the potatoes and veg all cooked together with the meat.

Can't beat it. It also means you get more value out of your pitch and hook up price! Might as well use it.
