Ok you lovely people, whats your favourite tipple. When i was in Somerset last weekend I pick up a lovely little cider brandy called Somerset Royal that would give Calvados a run for its money, and its 42%.

My personal favourites are:-

1) Glenfidich

2) Brandy

3) JD & Coke

Excuse the spelling but the best whiskey is Connemara Whiskey stilled in peat. It is a single malt and just about the best I have tasted. If you should try it take it neat as it would be criminal to mix it with anything.

Emmerson as I believe you live in south Wales we should try and organise a whisk(e)y sampling day so that all GOOD whiskies can be considered. Perhaps Dianne could arrange for Tesco to sponser the day with free samplers from the store with guest whiskies thrown in for good measure.

Just a small point.

Scotch whisky is spelt thus, if it is spelt as 'whiskey' then it is from Ireland or the US, or anywhere else. Trademarks etc.

By the way, I enjoy all of them.

PS Colin, there's a new CL opened this year on the a48 at the top of the Tumble nr Culverhouse Cross. That would be a good location for the whisk(e)y day, cos it's not far from Tesco's tent, so not too far to carry the bottles. Is it going to be invitation only, or will we be letting the hoi-poloi in as well?

Scotch lad, that's why the letter "e" is in brackets in our postings.Colin prefers his with an "e", I prefer it without, but I drink it with an "e" if it's offered, I just don't buy it.

Don't think you'd be allowed to join us, Plotter, as you don't have a very patriotic background. Besides, I think we'll restict it to GoC. Btw, have you got an export licence for your Smokaloo? And also, when do I get a dividend on my shareholding?

Scrumpy, either Stowford Press, G.L. or Strongbow.

I don't like dry ciders though.

Next favourite, Carlsberg Export or Stella Artois.

You all can have my share of the wine or whisky, I'd rather drink Gee's Linctus :O)

I don't particularly go for spirits so it has to be real ale for me every time.

Particular favourites are beers from Titanic, Burton Bridge and St. Peter's Brewery.

Martin.

Hi Diane,

Val is a Morgan Spiced Rum and Coke,

Me Glen Mhor Single Highland Malt just looking at a bottle I have here.

Bottled from Cask No 1970 1164/1166 by No 14 Customs and Excise Bond Glasgow.

Bottle Numbers 1408 and 1409 off 1926. I got them for a present for my 50th Birthday 10 years ago, and said I would open them on my 60th which is in 12 days time so now they are 35 years old pity they don't mature in the bottle.

If you lot like a good single malt, then you need to talk to Brian(St.Albans). He told me last night he has two very rare and very exspensive bottles of single malt.

So am i invited to this shin-dig?

Dianne you are ignoring my plea for a free bottle of Tesco's best as a result of my advertising on a posting above. You must realise that I am now retired and have to try to get my spirits by fair means or foul so if Tesco wont budge I will have no alternative than to take my custom to that other well known store at Sarn Park and see if they will bite. Therefore it will be on your conscience if Tesco go bankrupt at my lack of custom and those others make handsome profits hehehehe
