Ferry Prices with DFDS

I have been monitoring the ferry prices with the above carrier over the last week for sailings to France in August, returning mid October and I'm amazed at the prices for various days and times. The prices are 20% higher than last year even comparing with the CC ferry offers.

With fuel prices down by more that 45%, you would think that the ferry operators would reflect this! Is it another case of 'rip of Britain', story ?

Merlin, we go over 2 / 4 times a year, and never look that far ahead, we used to use the clubs discounts then found they were not any cheaper, especially as we would use the flexy return tickets. . But yes its all rip off Britian, why should you get a cheaper fare if your going for a day, than for a week two weeks or longer, same crossing. Different time of day maybe. But.
:woohoo:

We are going to Spain in July and wanted to wait to make sure our new caravan would be with us before booking the ferry, its too late now as no slots left! So it looks like it isn't overpriced because they've sold them all on the dates I want.

So the tunnel and a long drive down to the Costa Brava for us.

Ricky_s, I was only talking about the DFDS crossings that Merlin had posted about, not the ones down to Spain.

Apologies there, didn't pay enough attention to the post. 🙂

Ricky, I know it saves time and a long tow going direct to Spain, but the shorter crossing at a lower cost, can buy an awfull lot of fuel, have a good trip.

Same as Hutch, except we're going in April/June. £228 with 2 dogs, Dover Dunkirk. Quite a lot dearer than last year, even using the CC discount.

WE have not used Calais for a couple of years but when we did DFDS were about a quarter of the P&O price so maybe they are just putting the price up because they can. Have you tried the French web site to see if they pay less in the other direction?
