Fiama canopy

I have just bought a new coachman VIP and have fitted my old Fiama Caravanstore canopy to it.

The canopy however sits in an uncomfortable position resting on the awning light housing unit giving concerns that the light could suffer damage when travelling. Has anyone has a similar issue and if so what was the solution?

when I take my fiamma away with me I always carry it in the van accessing it through the front window and lying the it the length of the van,just the thought of it hanging off the awning rail and swaying around putting stress on the rail made me take this option,is it something that you could do as well?

Mine rests against the awning light on my Elddis. It's covered 5000 miles or so without a problem.

A little off the point I know but with my previous caravan I always kept my caravan store in situ resting just above the awning light with no problems however on purchasing my new caravan and making enquiries of the dealer and manufacture they both advised against towing the van with the caravan store in situ. They were not worried about the awning rail but about damage that may be caused to the bodywork just below the rail including the awning light even with pads installed. They said the movement of the caravan store whilst towing can damage the bodywork and such damage would of course not be covered by any warranty as the damage was self inflicted . It would seem that this is happening more and more as side walls are made thiner to save weight they said.

You are right I had no problems with the last van which was secondhand with no warranty but with a new van I was not prepared to take the chance

I've had a Fiamma on my vans for over 10 years with no problems. Apart from it lifting and banging against van sides in very high winds. I attach a couple of pads of a foam rubber to the underside of the bag , something like a car sponge cut in half, using good double sided adhesive tape. Can't be seen when stored or in use. Newer versions have such pads already fitted.

The only damage that will occur is when the pressure of the arms press against the van walls when erected.
