Hi Vicky have you took any pictures of this old caravan it might give us a clue what the make and model is

The caravan would have been made by Caravans International whose business was taken over by Swift many years ago and moved to Hull. The panel is very difficult to read but it looks to be an Eccles Elite, but I cannot make out the year from the panel. As Beachball says a photo of the caravan itself would help.
The Swift Owners Club probably can identify it from the information on the plate, but you might have to copy it out as some of the figures are not clear. They might also be useful if you are restoring it.

The model name of the caravan is Eccles Elite 17-5, as indicated on the top line of the chassis plate. I believe that 17 refers to its internal length in feet and 5 is the number of berths (imaginatively)!

The first two numbers in the row below indicate the year of manufacture (1991).

The caravan was made by Caravans International (CI) who were taken over by Cosalt caravans in the early 1990s. Cosalt were in turn taken over by the Swift Group some years later.

CI Caravans continued to thrive in South Africa for many years. They were based near Pinetown Kwazulu Natal. Quite a number of CI caravan still around in SA.
