virtually all but the premier makes of caravan will have some kind of problem by that age, if possible I would suggest asking one of the mobile service agents to check it over for you and give and estimate for repairs, we bought a caravan that we knew had problems but the cost of repair was way beyond what we expected. We had it repaired regardless and got a couple of seasons use before a tree fell on it and finished the job!!!
Garfield I hope you were not in the van when the tree fell on it. Another point to consider Sarah is if there is an owners club for that make of van. Generally the older vans have an owners club which usually prove very helpful.
The tree (mature sycamore) fell on the drawbar, destroying the locker box and other branches badly dented the roof and knocking the internal cabinets down, a year earlier the caravan was ten feet further forward and we were living in it while we renovated our house, had the tree come down then it would have hit dead centre where one of the kids bunks was!
